Second Hanger:
This is another image I have referenced from the same website as is the image I used for reference for the construction shape of this ford island building.
The next building I am decided to model is another hanger, shown in the background of the image above, these hangers are smaller and narrow.
Starting with a box pre-set I calculated how many segments I would need to get the best options in creating windows, ledges etc.
So I went with five length segments, two width segments and five height segments.
Length – 5 parameter segments
Width - 2
Height - 5
Next to create the hangers open doors I needed to select the two width segments around the model and move them to the edge of the model.
Then as shown in the screen shot, the square segments at the front of the hanger were selected and using the exude tool the segments were pushed back inside the pre-set to create an open hole.
Remembering The width segments from before to create this roof, by selecting the vertex points in the middle of the roof, I simply used the move tool to drag the points up to create a point.
This screen shot shows some added detail being applied to the back of the hanger, by selecting a few vertex points and placing them closer to create a door.
In this screen shot I have moved the vertex points up, I did this to get the windows in place to the canopy I am about to construct on this side of the hanger, so the windows have to be moved up.
By selecting the top half of the side vertex points and moving them up slightly, this allowed me to have the ledge, with a suitable height on the hanger.
Then by moving a few vertex points closer together to form the thickness of the canopy, then by using the exude tool I pulled out the two segments I wanted to form the canopy.
Then to finish off the canopy I selected the top vertex points and move them down closer to the bottom points to create an angled canopy as shown in the screen shot.
Now the construction of the second hanger is done, its onto texturing as shown in the screen shot the second hanger has the same corrugated metal texture as seen on my other hanger, I decided to use the same texture because I wanted the buildings to have some consistent elements and also a small hanger would normally be constructed out of corrugated metal panel.
Apart from using the corrugated metal texture for the main texture of this hanger I have also used the roof texture from the previous hanger model for the roof on this model, which can be shown in the screen shot running along the end of the pointed roof.
Then once the roof and metal texture have been used, I used the glass texture from the previous hanger as well as I liked the glass texture.
Using the polygon tool to select the rectangle segments above the canopy, the glass texture was applied.
