Industrial building:
The next model I am creating is the building highlighted in the image above, another industrial building.
Due to the lack images of this building, the model will be based on images of this building I have, but some parts of the model will be based on a time period style.
Starting with a box pre-set as the base design for the building, the pre-set has segments of six applied to the height , width and length, these segments will help shape and design the look of the building.
To make this pre-set into the shape of this building, the building I am representing has a certain shaped roof, to create this roof design, as shown in the screen shot, I used the polygon option to select the areas of the roof I wanted to exuded higher than other parts of the top of the pre-set.
To create the front industrial doors I used the polygon tool and the exude tool to push in a selection of polygons to represent an industrial hanger door inside the pre-set slightly.
To add to the style design of the building I selected a layer of the height, selecting vertex points and using the move tool, I brought a layer of vertex points closer to another layer, this is to create an exuded ledge around the whole building, this gives the building character and shape and is consistent in design to the first hanger I made. Using the exude tool to pull out the polygons to form the ledges.
Next to create windows in the sides of the model, I mapped out box pre-sets along the wall of the building and positioned them slightly in the wall of the building, then using pro Boolean I picked the box pre-set away and they left an indented box pre-set square in the wall, this was done all around the building to create the windows.
Here is a screen shot of the pro Boolean box pre-sets in the back of the wall of the building and a better angle showing the ledge going around the middle of the building.
Also one of the pre-sets has been positioned at the top of the building as a vent box, adding detail to the model.
To add character and shape to the building multiple pre-sets were mapped into the building model, to create indented designs using pro Boolean on the plain flat parts of the building.
Lastly three pre-set cylinders were added to the building for the finishing detail, then using the roof texture, concrete texture and hanger window glass texture from previous models, this model was textured and the screen shot above shows the results.
A concrete building with a roof texture, a black ledge running around the edge of the building and ending with a big industrial hanger like door at the front.
